Award recipients on stage at the Christmas Pageant After Party

Council wishes to congratulate everyone who made this year's Christmas Pageant one of the biggest in years.

A total of 55 floats were entered in this year's procession, and the after party in Sturt Park was complemented by a busy community market and the captivating Perfect Light Film Festival.

"It was amazing, I've been involved with the Pageant for eight years and it was by far the biggest one I've seen," said Council's Events Coordinator, Rachel Merton.

"It was unlucky that some wild weather blew in at the end of the night, but I think people still had a great day and enjoyed the festive atmosphere."

Mayor Darriea Turley said the event was a credit to everyone involved.

"To everyone who entered a float, set up a stall, helped set up equipment, sponsored an event, or even just came along to watch the parade - you all contributed to a wonderful day for our community," said Mayor Turley.

"I should also make special mention of our Events team, and Council staff who volunteered their time on Saturday, they all did an amazing job coordinating the many events through the day.

"Overall it was just great to see these amazing events receive such strong support from the community, and we can only hope next year's festivities are just as special."

A number of awards were given out after the Pageant, with the Silver City Swim Club taking out the Grand Champion award for their float.
